SAP SRM compared with SAP SNC (Supply Network Collaboration)

I have been looking at supplier collaboration using the SAP SNC 7.0 module, where one can for instance have web enabled collaborative processes for the visibility and confirmation of purchase orders.

So, to me there is overlap here with the 'supplier self service' elements of SRM/EBP.

I would appreciate comments on this, and views on where the respective SNC and SRM solutions are most appropriate.

I am not expert on SRM but let me briefly explain the funtionality of SNC..

Firtst of all SNC is two side; one is customer(integrate with APO and totally functional), the other is supplier collaboration.. I think you want to compare SRM with SNC supplier side..

SNC works with XI/PI and ECC for own company and there is no matter what your supplier has system.. There is only one requirement that your supplier need to have internet connection..

SNC is very useful for mass processes..

SNC supplier side functionality; integration of purchasing (standart PO, subcintracting PO), integration of scheduling agreement(it also support JIT forcasting), replenishment order processing (you upload your stock and demant to SNC from ECC, planning run, your supplier create RO on SNC depent on planning value then sent the data both supplier and your company system, depend on this data your system create PO, supplier system create SO...), invoicing process (your supplier maintain invoice on SNC then it integrates to MM lgisitics invoice control. )

Besides that SNC use time series data management, you can easly control your data with SNC.
