kernel Upgrade to 701 on AIX / Oracle platform

Former Member

Dear all,

I am currently running on Netweaver 7.0 on IBM AIX / Oracle 10.2 platform.

I am trying to upgrade Kernel from 700 to 701 release patch level 39.

Unfortunately after extracting few of the exe files Example disp+work are

giving error as

could not load disp+work progarm

rtld : 0712-001 Symbol XTCgetprefixForURI was referenced

from module disp+work(), but a runtime definition of the symbol was not found

rtld : 0712-002 fatal error : exiting

I have faced this error in Windows platform where we need to run some microsoft DLL

as per SAP Note 684106 which clears these fatal runtime errors,

but this note applies to only windows platform .

Is there any note specific to AIX platform.

Please let me know ASAP.

Best Regards,

RR

What you do is not supported.

Kernel 7.01 is automatically replaced during the upgrade to EHP1/EHP4. Kernel 7.01 is not supported on 7.00 instances.

You can use the BR*TOOLS 7.10 that will work - but the rest of the kernel can't be upgraded above 7.00 for a NW 7.0 system.

Dear Experts,

Sorry to keep this thread open for long time. But i still differ with most of you , as i have finished

EHP1 upgrade activity ,, i did my Kernel upgrade successfully before start of Upgrade.

Then during EHP upgrade SAPEhpi tool gave clear indication that " kernel version is newer than expected and will not be replaced "

This saved most of the time for me during actual Upgrade.

I am closing this thread with Note : Kernel 701 upgrade possible on both Unix and Windows / Oracle platform.

refrerence note :- SAP Note 684106 - Microsoft runtime DLLs

Hi,

It looks like you are upgrading the kernel when system is up. Make sure that system should be down and take proper backup of exe folder.

Also run cleanipc before starting kernel upgrade.

Thanks

Are you extracting them in the /sapmnt/<SID>/exe directory

Make sure you backed up the old exe.

Shtudown SAP and do a slibclean before you update the exe
