pricing in bom

hi all,

i have a doubt in bom pricing(single level),can anybody plz explain the price str in bom.....

Hi,

For the high level item we will assign,one item category.Say TAN is assigned for high level item.

For the subsequesnt/secondary items we will assign another item category which is not relevany for pricing.Say TANN.

This is one case of BOM.

For the first one in the item category,we will tick tha mark "Item Rel. for Delivery" and for the second item category we will uncheck this one.

This one way of BOM.

For Example take a bicycle as the main item and all the parts as the sub items.

Price will be for bicycle only not for sub items.

Coming to the second case where pricing will be done for sub items only not for main item.

In this case we take example of a computer.Here the item category of sub items is relevant for pricing "X" in the item category and the item category of the main item is not relevant for pricing,having blank value for the field pricing in item category.

HI Mohan,

In BOM the Pricing is happen based on Main Material / Item .....

1. If you want to pricing the material at Header Level then the Sub Item Pricing will not happen.In that condition the Item Category group in Mat. Master ERLA & the item Category of the main Item will be TAQ & for the Sub Item the Item Category will be TAP

2. In the case of if you want to do the Pricing for Sub Item Then in that Condition the Item Category Group of Main Item will LUMF followed by the Item Category TAE & TAN for the Sub item.In LUMF case sytem will not do the Pricng at Header level it will do at Item level..

Hi ,

Pricing in a BOM can happen in 2 ways, i.e. either the main material will have pricing or the child materials will have the pricing.

Case 1 : Pricing with the child material ( Eg :computer and its components)

When we sell a computer the pricing will be based on the components of the computer because they can vary , say the CPU, RAM etc.

The Computer will have an item category group say LUMF which will have a default item catergory assigned to it say TAP.

The item catergory TAP will not be relvant for pricing ( in VOV7)

Other child components like RAM, HARD DISK etc will have the item category say TAQ ( which will be relevant for pricing). This item category will be determined based on the higher level item category which in this case is TAP.

Since the item category TAP is relevant for pricing all the pricing will happen at the child levels after the BOM explosion in the sales order ; The Parent material ( Computer) will not have any pricing.

Case 2 : Pricing with the Parent material. ( eg: Pen and its components)

When we deal in pen we usaully will not have the pricing of the pen based on its components because these components will be standard and will not change based.

In this case we can have pricing at the parent level material say Pen with an item category group ERLA and item category TAQ.

Item category TAQ in this case is relevant for pricing.

The child components such as refill, pen cap etc can have an item category say TAE which get determined based on the higher level item category TAQ ( Pen). This item categor TAE will not be relevant for pricing.

Hence in this case the pricing will be detemined by the parent material and not the child material.

Please let me know if these examples give you clarity of BOM pricing.
