MIME Repository file content constraint/guideline

Hi Experts,

do You maybe know any guideline regarding the usage of files (e.g. business purpose) that we place in the MIME repository?

Our approach is to store object templates in XML for simplified business object layouts that are used in our WD app.

The user may modify them and create new ones as well, though we considered this - let's say - ~static. (so would only rarely change, I would not considered it transactional data).

Do You find this a correct approach (instead of storing it in DDIC)?

Thanks in advance&regards,

Tamá

Ultimately the MIME repository content is all stored in the database as well. From that aspect there is very little difference between the technical storage of the content. The MIME content does have automatic caching within the ICM. So it is most useful for content that doesn't change often. I think what you describe is pretty consistent with the usage of the MIME repository. For instance, the XML based cusotmizing that is generated for the IGS. Each UI element specific generation of the XML is stored in the MIME repository.
