Hi,

NW Mobile has rich capabilities that suits better the mobile applications that could be used in offline mode.

This means , only relevant data(even to the extend of what all relevant fields of a structure) could be downloaded from the backend system (eg. ERP system) to mobile devices (laptop , PDA, smartphones etc) via NW Mobile .

The user can work using this data in disconnected mode where there is no network available.

Mobile users can enter new data (like place new order, complete a order or any kind of activity assigned to him) and at a later point of time (whenever there is connectivity) synchronize with DOE which will send this data to the backend server(for eg. a an ERP system).

For eg. A technician gets the service orders that he has to attend to(depending on his expertise) in his mobile device . He works in offline mode , visits customers , later updates order or completes order and then sends this data to backend with a sync. In this way the data sync between various software systems/ applications are ensured.

Netweaver mobile constitutes of server (DOE) and a default client framework (Netweaver mobile client) .

Mobile application could be created using NetweaverDeveloper Studio(NWDS) that will present the data required by the mobile device user.

Hi Satya,

From NetWeaver 7.10 release, SAP has released Data Orchestration Engine(DOE) which is new and enhanced version of MI.

Typical use-case of using Netweaver Mobile is the "Sales-person" who will visit customer places and sale the product.

At the end of the day, he/she will synchronize the day's work with the middleware server which in turn will communicate with the backend server. Similarly, the data in the backend can be distributed to the mobile device depending on the criteria set by the modeler.

For more information about DOE, you can refer to following link.
