Hi Dave,

1. How do we know whether a Business content object has been installed or not?

Answer: When you collect the objects, there are 2 check boxes - install, match(or) copy. If there is a tick mark in Match (or) copy, it means that the objects are already installed.

2. What happens if we try to reinstall a Business content cube?

Answer: If there is a newer version, newer version gets installed else the same version will be re-installed.

3. if we install a Standard cube from busines content (with dataflow b4 and after), do we get all the infoobects, transfer rules, infosources, update rules.?

Answer: YES.

4. How one can take care of transports while installing buisness contents.?

Answer: These objects can be transported like any other objects.

5. If the cube to be installed gets records from standard ODS, does that ODS also gets installed.?

Answer: Yes, ofcourse.

Hope this helps...

Thanks,

Raj

hi Dave,

1. when you drag the object to right panel,

you will get a green indicator below the column 'active version available'.

the other way

- you can check in system, e.g infocube, rsa1->infoproviders->binocular/search.

- in table, active version exist, e.g infocube, the table is RSDCUBE.

2. with normal installation, system will prompt asking whether keep existing active version,

or replace, will prompt out a screen to choose which one to keep.

(with background installation won't asking).

here the column 'match/copy' is important.

'..If you unset the indicator, the new SAP delivery

version is copied in its entirety.

Any existing customer version is overwritten and is no longer available.'

before real installation, you can simulate, install->simulate.

3. yes, you will get all objects mentioned.

4. you have option 'install and transport'

5. this depend on your grouping, with 'in dataflow before', 'in dataflow and afterwards', ods will be collected.

hope this helps.

hi Dave,

there is button 'install' with some options,

see the link for detail.

Simulate installation

The system runs a test to see whether any errors are likely to occur during the installation. The most important objects are checked in the simulation, but not all the dependent objects are included in the check. You should, therefore, only use the simulation function as a rough guide to help you identify and remove basic errors.

it will not actually install the BC objects..

It will only do a simulation of the installation and give relevant results(so that u have fair idea of what will happen when u do actual installation).

cheers,

1.If its active in admin workbench it means its installed.

2.It overwrites the active cube which was installed earlier.Any changes made directly on BC cube will get lost.So always copy BC cube before changing it.

3.I believe Yes.

4.I think u should use option 'Install and Transport' while activating Business Content. There might also be other ways. Not sure if transport request is asked if we use just 'install' option. After installing u could also pull objects manually into a transport request from 'transport connection'-search-drag to right-insert in transport.

5.I believe if u do both dataflow before and after, the std ODS in the model should come through(not completely sure).

cheers,

Vishvesh
