Hi there
We are having an issue import text files using MDIS because of what seems to be the encoding using in the file:
- We are using MDIS to import text files that are transfered to our MDM server via PI
- When for exmaple chars outside the ASCII set appeal in a text files (e.g. ñ) the import will fail. Suggesting that we need to use a different encoding,
- When we check with PI the channel is using UTF-8 encoding for file tranfer to MDM
- When we open the text in the exceptions folder on the MDM Server and save again but with encoding UTF-8 the issue can be resolved.
- Also the regional setting on the MDM Server also have be set to handle Spanish languages etc
Does anyone know how we can preserve the encoding of text files, between PI (HP-Unix) and MDM (Windows 2003) to UTF-8 to avoid this issue? When PI transfers to MDM are text defaulted to ASCII encoding?
Anyone else know of a simialar problem and how we can solve this?
All help appreciated
Do you faintly remember how this was resovled. Aprpeciate your response. Thanks !

Hi,
In PI file receiver communication cahnel you have the option to specify the file type as Text. If you specify as text then file encoding will be enabled and then you can put UTF-8 which should take care of your issue.
