hi Ramakrishna,
Definition
A handling unit represents a physical package that can be moved as one unit and uniquely identified by its HU number.
The handling unit consists of a combination of packaging materials and the materials contained in them. It can also contain subordinate handling units, which in turn contain materials or handling units. This is called a nested handling unit.
Each handling unit has a label specifying its handling unit number. If the handling unit is nested, the numbers of the subordinate HUs can also be printed on the label.
A handling unit provides information on the packaging materials and the materials contained therein. If a handling unit is created according to a packing instruction, it also has a reference to this packing instruction and is given a packing status, provided that a check profile has been entered in the packing instruction.
Use
Handling units simplify material flow. Goods movement of a handling unit as an independent object implies the goods movement of all the materials and packaging materials contained therein. Completion confirmation (or backflush) of a handling unit therefore also implies confirmation of the corresponding materials.
Structure
A handling unit consists of
One load carrier
Any amount of packed goods
Any amount of packaging materials
Subordinate HUs, if appropriate
Data on the packaging materials and materials contained
