CUP will "overwrite" user information in SAP?

Former Member

Hi Experts,

Would like to check if information in the CUP "user information" would be pushed down into SAP, and overwrite the user details in the user master record in SAP?

For e.g., We would be having the fax number as one of the user details - in the address tab. Would this be overwritten?

Thanks!

If user is already existing, then what is the need to do provisioning.

better go for Change and it will change only the required field.

HI Surpreet,

Even when you submit a CHANGE request which by default has CHANGE USER And PROVISION ROLE action type, so if the request is submitted for role provisioning it updates the user details in the back end also....

HI,

I confirm.

If we use a CREATE request on a existing user, it will be overwrite in all details, and provisionning all roles define in the request as new (except if it s done in the same day = same date and so "overwrite".

If we use CHANGE for an non existing user it's ok

But with Create it's really danmage time to time.

Hi,

There is an issue with Create Request in AC 5.3 till patch 8, how ever this issue is solved in patch9 where you have the option of validity check and give warning or error as per your selected option if user already exists and you are submitting a Create Account request.

I can confirm Franks answer. IF CHANGE_USER is not defined as action in request type then no fields will be updated, including possible user defaults you might have defined.

Theoretically you can also create a new request type in CUP to not do that and just assign roles.

There is an action called CHANGE_USER that - if you take it away - should prevent that from happening.

(Disclaimer: have not tried that yet)

Yups, the user details are overwritten in SAP System, i have LDAP as user source, and when a request (role) was provisioned for user, the department was overwritten in SAP System and value was updated to be same as LDAP value.

Cheers !!
