Hi All,

I want to know the advantages and disadvantages of using Using Bulk storage Type in a Warehouse,, is it for fast moving or slow moving goods and how easy or difficult is it to maintain FIFO in Bulk Storage Type, as usually Single Bin is used along with Bulk Storage Type. All your views will be appreciated, thank you all

Regards,

Samuel

Hey,

Bulk Storage is typically for FAST moving items/ FULL Pallets/ Kegs/ Totes/ Crates etc and is pretty flexible in terms of what to allow in a Bin/Lane, for example, however, it is pretty temperamental with richer functionality such as HUM. You need to decide upon the build level WM, WM and SUM, WM and HUM and also take a decision as to what level of MIXING you can allow in a Bin/Lane as this will determine how easy it is to PICK .. ie. if you are directed to the bin and you do not allow mixing then the person performing a pick can simply take the first Pallet they find. However, if you DO allow mixing then the user can be directed to the right bin/lane but must then take the time to select the correct Pallet .. which may mean having to move some pallets out of the way, prior to picking the right material/batch combination (obviously this slows down the pick process and is not ideal).

Set-up includes:

Define Storage Type

Define Storage Bin Types (Bin Master Setting)

Define Bulk Storage Indicator (Mat Master Setting)

Define Storage Type Control (for Bulk Storage)

Define Block Structures

thanks,

A
