Hi All,

Please clear my doubt regarding webflow and workflow.

1) Whether webflow and workflow are same only difference is workflow runs in SAP gui and WebFlow on portal?

2) If they are different what changes/configuration we have to made in workflow so that it will work in webflow

3)If we put some steps as web activity then it will get executed for webflow and not for workflow

Thanks in advance,

Swanand

Hi Swanand,

SAP WebFlow is actually a term that was used for the whole SAP workflow concept for a certain time period which highlighted the workflow systems web capabilities (wf-xml + web service calls etc.). Nowadays it's called SAP Business Workflow.

So as answers to your questions:

1. webflow and workflow are just terms pointing to the same technology and tools - SAP Business Workflow. Work items generated by SAP Business Workflow can be executed in both Business Workplace in SAP GUI and UWL in the portal. Business Workplace and UWL can be treated as work item delivery channels with the work items hosted in the backend centrally.

2. they are the same, you can display the same work items residing in the backend system both in Business Workplace with SAP GUI and in the UWL in the portal. To have the work items visible in the UWL, you need to configure the UWL to connect to the backend and retrieve the displayed item types.

3. not sure I understood this.. You can deliver work items both through the SAP GUI Business Workplace and the portal's UWL at the same time. You can think of both as "windows" to the work items. If you complete a work item in Business Workplace, it will disappear from UWL and vice versa.

Hope this helps,

Mikko
