Data Link Data Source format of connection string for Oracle DB?

Hello

we are trying to setup the IDM MC to connect to our oracle database (which is on another server).

I have installed the oracle client for windows (32 bit) and installed the MC.

When I start the wizard and choose provider "Oracle Provider for OLE DB" and click next

It prompts for for Data Source and username and password

what is is the format of the data source entry??? becuase just putting in hostname doesn't work.

The backend oracle database is up and listener started.

Typical SAP, they manage to document everything whilst skillfully managing to omit all the details!

cheers

Hi.

Its IDM 7.1

and I'm trying to create the 'ADO Connection string' by clicking the '..' button which opens up a new window.

In this new window we have:

Provider - which I selected Oracle provider for OLE DB (my IDM DB is oracle and on a linux host)

NEXT

Data Source - ????? this is my question. Just entering the physial host doesn't seem to do anything...

username and password - which I'm assuming is the mxmc_admin username....

Hi Simon,

For data source you need to create a system DSN in Data sources (ODBC), which you can find (in windows) under control panel -> Administrative tools -> Data Sources (ODBC), then go to the System DSN tab and create a data source for your Oracle database (which is on different host)

Let me know if this works for you

Cheers !!

Simon,

Which version of IDM are you working with?

Are you trying to create the JDBC connection?

Thanks,

Matt
