Multiple UME possible?

Former Member

Dear all.

We have Netweaver 7 with installed Netweaver Portal.

The UME is configured to use LDAP read only.

We would need a second UME.

So here my questions on which I did not found answers in SAPs help:

1) Is it possible to have a second UME on one Java instance? ... I assume not.

2) Is it possible to configure different data sources per server?

3) Is it possible to have a second UME when installing a second Java instance?

Thanks and regards

Stefan

Hello Stefan,

The UME is unique for every WAS Java, and all the users contained in the datasource must be unique.

For example, it is not possible to use 2 different abap systems as datasources for your UME (the workaround will be to use the CUA). What is possible is to use several different LDAPs to configure the UME datasource, with the restriction that the users must be unique (that means, a user in one LDAP must not exist in another one).

So it depends on what you are searching for.

Désiré

Hello there,

) Is it possible to have a second UME on one Java instance?

>> This is possible with virtual directory server(VDS). UME points to VDS and VDS points to other DS.

2) Is it possible to configure different data sources per server?

>> per cental instance only one datasource.

3) Is it possible to have a second UME when installing a second Java instance?
