Advice needed on CRM Standalone

Former Member

Hi.

We are going to use CRM for our presales transactions (activities, leads, opportunities) and IC help desk. We will not replicate any documents to R/3 hence the decision to implement CRM as a standalone component.

Is this a good way of implementing CRM based on our requirements? Or do you recommend otherwise?

Thanks.

Hi Rosette,

As far as:

1. you are not planning to use products and pricing,

2. do not want to perform any analytics and

3. only going to use Activities, Leads and Opportunities,

I think you can use CRM as a standalone. But also consider if the rest of the sales cycle are to implemented anytime in the future, then it would require little more effort for the modification.

Hope this answers your question.

Hi Jash,

Thanks for the prompt reply.

We have an R/3 system installed but we have not done any configuration on SD there (clean instance). How minimal should the setup in SD be if we plan to maintain all master data in CRM?

Hi Rosette,

Incase you have an R/3 in place, then you should have the following created:

1. Org and other BP related customizations

2. Product related customizations

These are the two important configurations I could think of. Afterwhich, you might have to do the initial loading which is a must by setting up RFC connection between R/3 and CRM.

Hope this helps!

Jash.
