Hi Amruta,

The advantage of integrating MDM with LDAP is that the Authentication and autorization will now happen through LDAP.

Every user and its authoraization will be checked by the LDAP system prior to use.

You can Additionally go through the below links to know more on MDM integration with LDAP:

The console guide talks more on LDAP and it connectivity with MDM:

https://websmp105.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700006291622006E >LDAP Support

Also you can go through the MDM console refernce guide frompage 304--311.

Hi Bis,

Does that mean i do not need to maintain Users and Roles in MDM?

Thanks

Hi Amruta,

You have to maintain users and roles in MDM also. But After integrating with LDAP, this would check/Compare with users defined in LDAP. With the same user id that maintained in MDM, LDAP will give rest alldetails that are maintained in LDAP.

Hi Amruta,

THe prime benefits of integrating MDM with LDAP are:

1. You need not maintain any users & passwords in MDM. The user id & password will be maintained in LDAP. This helps when there are very large number of users. The authentication is done at LDAP only.

2. This can be activated if you do settings in the MDS.ini file.

3. If you have any other applications like Portal in your landscape, the same reposiotry can be used rather than maintaining the user id's in Portal.

Hi Amruta,

I meant to say that if you are creating records by using Portal & MDM then you need not maintain the user details in both applications. If you maintain the details in LDAP (central repository) then that data can be used by both systems.

Hi Amrutha,

What is your MDM version and what systems you have in your landscape (like Portal + MDM)?

If you are using MDM 5.5 and you have portal, then only Portal LDAP Integration will work but not MDM LDAP.
