Backup & restore

Hi,

Iam new to SAP on Oracle DBA administration.Till now in all my projects Oracle DBA person helping to take backup and restore with customer db tools.

Now we have got new project , in that there is no DBA so I have to take backup and restore.

If some one can guide me how to take SAPbackup online/offline and restore procedure then it will be greatly appriciated.

Steb by step procedure and issues can help me more to start my activity asap.

Hi,

I think you need to evaluate the backup procedures for your new project. Do you need to set up a Backup strategy or do you need one-time backup?

If you are working on strategy then you need to go for on-line backups. For this you may need to go for backup scripts and scheudle them to run night or day.

If it is one-time backup, then you can use BR* tools. Please go through the help.sap.com first and then ppl here can give you the procedure.

Please do not follow the procedures given by people here with out understanding the under lying logic. This may cause you more problems.

Also, Define some startegy for Archive-Logs which is very important
