Archive Log Backup to Direcotry/Folder is not Possible ?

Hello Friends,

I want to know that, weather Archive LogFiles Backup to particular Directory/Folder (instead of Tape) is possible or not ?

In DB13 , only "Archive Logfiles to Tape" option is available.

My Backup Solution is working on "Disk-to-Disk Backup" strategy.

May I have any suggetions for this ?

Yes...This is possible

Look at your initSID.sap file in Oracle_home/database directory.There you can find the option for moving archive logs to a specified space.

You can directly do it from BRTOOLS from command prompt..

But if you want to do it from DB13, change in initSID.sap file.

Sorry for not mentioning some required details in my last thread.

In My case SAP ECC 6.0 is running with DB2 UDB LUW 9.1 on Windows 2003 x64 System.

What changes are required to do with respect to DB2 Configuration ?

May i have your suggetion for thsi situation ?

Not very experienced in DB2, but you can try the below command to update your DB2 config file and then run Archive log backup from DB13.

db2 update db cfg for <SID> using LOGARCHMETH1 Disk:<drive>:Full_patch_where_you_want_to_keep_archive_log

LOGARCHMETH1 is a DB2 log file management configuration parameter, which Specifies the media type of the primary destination for archived log files (means, which are not active log files and which are offline red-log files, which will be moved from log_dir location to the location specified in LOGARCHMETH1 on its time).

The Possible values for LOGARCHMETH1 are:

u2022 DISK:<path>

u2022 TSM:<TSM management class>

u2022 VENDOR:<vendor library>

u2022 USEREXIT

u2022 LOGRETAIN

If I am going to specify Disk based remote location while performing Archive Log Backup using DB13, It is giving some error like "....its not a Tape...."

I am looking for the option of Scheduling Archive Log Backup (either through DB13 or any other options) to the Specified Location (in my case it should take Archive backup to Remote Disk location, as per as my Disk-to-Disk Backup Strategy).

Is it possible ?
