Business Relevant Monitoring & Message Recon - Custom Tables

Hi

We have a requirement to be able to track business releavant identifiers in messages as they pass through SAP PI, and to be able to quickly audit and reconcile whether messages have been succesfully delivered from source to destination systems.

If there are issues, we would like to be able to search through the messages that have passed through SAP PI on business specific information i.e. Order Number, or No of Orders per Purchase Org etc. It's seems that the only options for doing this is using the new functionality provided in 7.1 (we are currently on 7.0) or using TREX.

Has anybody had any experience using Custom Tables on PI to store message content and message identifiers as the message passes through PI in order to provide more robust monitoring, auditing and reconcilliation abilities?

When dealing with custom tables and routines, there would be a slight perfomance impact that you may have to compromise.
