Must I use a seperate mail server to send a mail to gmail?

Hi Experts,

I am now using netweaver 7.01 to send e-mail to gmail (ex.)

I've done all that is mentioned in SAP Help or Note 455140. When I send a message to gmail, there is no error message in SCOT, however, my gmail account never recieves the mail.

I suppose that there some problems in "SMTP Connection" of "General node data". I use the following settings:

Mail Host: localhost

Mail Port: 25000

Note: I have activate the SAPConnect in SICF; while in RZ10, icm/server_port_2=PROT=SMTP,PORT=25000.

Must I configure a seperate mail server to send a mail to gmail? Ou there might be something wrong in my configurations?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Mail Host: localhost

Mail Port: 25000

Mail Port should be 25

Mail Host should be the host which is able to accept the outbound mails from SAP and then relay those to external world. Please confirm from your Unix/System administrators for this.

I think it means the I cannot use the service SAPConnect as the mail server.

If somebody can confirm this point, I will close the ticket.

No. You need to have the combination of SAPConnect+Mail Server.

In scot, you need to specify the mail server name. where is your mail server running? Is it on local host? if not, please try to replace it with the mail server address and send it. Also, you can check in SOST tcode for transmission status of mails like:

1. Errors

2. Sent Successfully

3. In tansit

4. Waiting

Hope this would help you.
