When you install SAP Netweaver Portal 6.0, we need to chose if we want to use local account or a domain account for installation.
Does anybody have idea about what is the difference between the two and if I already have an installation using Local account, can I upgrade it to Domain account ?
ps: I have posted two questions together and I will award points for both the answers
To my understanding Local Account means configuring a SAPService user on Windows Portal Server itself and Domain account means configuring SAPService user on a Centralized Enteprise Identity Management System like Active Directory . This actually provides more Security.
However, what you chose is mostly controlled by the Organization Security Policy.

If you don't want to perform a distributed installation(database instance in a diferent host) you should use a Local Account. Domain installations are more recommended for distributed systems.
