Dear MDM forum,
We find a field detail - 'Cache'. Please elaborate :
1) What is cache with ref to MDM ?
2) Why is Cache required ? Advantages?
3) Under what scenarios we can make use of this to the best ?
Regards,
Vinay M.S
Hey Vinay,
"CACHE" is nothing but temporary memory. But in SAP MDM perspective it's mainly used for qualified table. it's recommended that for qualifiers the "CACHE" should be enabled though it'll consume some temporary memory. The advantages of enabling CACHE are as follows:
1) U can see only those qualifiers that are cached using Drill down search when Main table is elected as your current table.
To see the qualifiers not cached u have to select qualifier table as your current table and then perform search
Below are the excerpts from ref guide for advantages of CACHE:
(1) it dramatically improves search performance;
(2) it permits keyword indexing to be set for the qualifier (using the Keyword field property) to
support keyword search of qualifier data;
(3) it permits drilldown search by qualifier lookup values even before you have selected a single
qualified table record in the qualified lookup field search tab;
(4) it permits free-form search by qualifiers (both lookup and non-lookup);
(5) it causes the set of qualified links for each record to be filtered
based on the qualifier search value (both lookup and non-lookup).
Reg,
Bis
