Hello,
We are trying to model with shelf life in ASO SNP, but apparently SNP stills uses the products and transport them to an other location, even if the product is already expired. When the product reaches an other location, the shelf life starts all over again. Searching for some help, we found that this is an standard behavior of the tool. Could you guys please confirm? Thanks
Hi Dtoron,
I have attached a link which contains all the pre-requisites, settings and process
for SNP shelflife to work.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm70/helpdata/EN/46/1da416078b5a68e10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm
Please check whether you have missed out any setting.

Hi Doron,
Please check SAP note 579556 which clearly states your current
scenario and problem. (check 4th paragraph under "Solution")

Hi
I am working on Shelf Life Planning in SNP using CTM. We are using SAP SCM 7.0 where this functionality is available.
I have created a batch class and transferred it to APO along with the characteristics relevant for shelf life planning such as LOBM_APO_SL_MIN, LOBM_APO_SL_MAX, LOBM_APO_SL_UTC.
Shelf Life tabs are activated in Product view and shelf life data is visible for forcased requiremtn, purchase requisitions, planned order (which are created manually).
Planning using CTM without considering the Shelf Life happens perfectly fine. But, * when I use "Consider Shelf Life" in CTM's tab strategies, I am not getting any result.*.
I have tried using SNP PPM, PDS and PP/DS PPM and PDS. But I am not getting any result.
Please let me know what basic settings are missings.
Thanks,
Chintesh
Hi Dtoron,
Which SCM version you are working on? I have worked on shelf life implementation using SCM 2007 and it works fine with SNP. The batch data in which shelf life data is stored is not location specific and hence shelf life remains consistent.
Best regards,
Vaibhav

Thank you all for your answers.
Senthil: Reviewing the link that you sent, under stock planning actually confirms the behavior that we are seeing in our model: " +the product shelf life defined in the product master is not passed onto multiple locations during transportation. This means that if a product is transported from one location to another, the shelf life horizon starts anew."+
Julien/Vaibhav/Ken: we are working on version 5.0 and with the optimizer. Do you guys have any documentation for shelf life on version 7.0? Do you guys know if there could be a work around for version 5.0?
Thanks again.
David
Hi DToron,
It is indeed the case, at least in 5.0
SNP only the optimiser respect shelf life, and is reset for each location.
Basically it can be used only to model how long inventory can be held at one location.
However there is new functionality in 5.1 to propagate shelf life and intergate it with ECC. Shelf life display and alerts have been imporved..
I have never tried this functionality... If somebody have experience here I would apreciate the feed back!
Thanks and Regards
Julien
