Apart from the above replies the architect will take a decision which type of adapter will be the best suitable for his scenarios like Proxy, RFC or IDOC etc. So if he has sound knowledge on ABAP or Java that would be an added advantage.

Also he should keep in mind about the performance for all the scenarios in the project. Last but not the least is to help his team members / developers in resolving the issues.

To add to what already moorthy mentions, not just XI concepts, but overall EAI, Message Brokers, BPEL concepts is a definte plus for an architect.

Hi Mohan,

This is just my views....

Roles of an XI Architect-

1) Get the Functional Specification/Business Requirments

2) Set up the Procedures/Process

3) Give the solution Roadmap

4) Design the Solution

Roles of an XI developer-

1) Develop the Technical Specification(sometimes part of Architect)

2) Develop the Inerfaces according to the requirement

- All ABAP/Java Developments

- Design/Configuration

3) Test the scenario

There will be other thinking also~~

Thanks,

Moorthy
