Hi,
We are upgrading the ABAP stack of our solution manager system from 7.0 to EHP 7.0 SP level 19. We do not currently use a JAVA stack and would like to know is it possible to add java stack later to the system and patch it to EHP 7.0 SP 19?
Regards,
Sandeep.
Hi Sandeep
Generally it is suggested that
You can install the Java Add-In for an existing ABAP system. This means
that you run SAPinst to execute the following:
- Install the central services instance (SCS)
- Add the Java database schema to the existing ABAP database instance
- Add the Java central instance with usage types to the existing ABAP
central instance
The installation of the Java Add-In for an existing ABAP system is
described in the documentation Installation Guide <your product>
ABAP+Java on <OS>: <Database> available at
http://service.sap.com/instguides.
If you have existing ABAP Dialog Instances however these will need to be re-installed as ABAP+JAVA dialog instances
However I also read somewhere that as of SAP NetWeaver 7.0 including enhancement package 1, the
installation option Java Add-In for ABAP is disabled, therefore the advice on this depends on your release
Best wishes
Stuart
