Question on SC and DC

Hello Folks,

If I have a SC with 4 DCs in it (i.e, 2 web dcs plus 2 enterprise application dcs), and I make a change in one of the web application DC, and check-inactivaterelease and this gets approved to production, at the time of deployment on production box, would both of my applications take an outage?

If yes, can I avoid this by separating them and putting them in two different SCs in the same track like this

SC1 = DC1 (web app) + DC1 (eapp)

SC2 = DC2 (web app) + DC2 (eapp)

this way I am thinking since what gets approved in an SC, if I make change to DC1 (i.e SC1) then at the deploy time in production DC2 doesn't take an outage. Am I right?

I am trying to avoid having a downtime for all applications when just one of them is redeployed.

Thanks,

Kiran

Hi Kiran

Yes that would work ,

But with webdynpro if you have Model changes , you will have to restart your server anyway to recache the Metadata so even with this approach you can only minimise the disruption and not do away with it fully
