Backup Startergy

Dear SAP Experts ,

Shall appreciate , if you can provide me the details to plan the backup startergy .

Database Oracle 10g ,

OS Suse Linux 10 SP2

SAP Application ECC 6.0

1. Offline backup for the week

2 . Online backup

3. OS level backup

Hi,

SAP recommends a backup cycle of four weeks. It must be the same for database backups and offline redo log backups.

1. Perform a complete online backup each workday.

2. Perform a complete offline backup at least once in the cycle.

3. Back up the offline redo log files on each workday as well as after every online and offline backup. Ensure that you back up every offline redo log files twice, on separate tapes or atleast in another location in the disk, before the file is deleted in the archive directory.

hello rahul,

Daily onlne backup in the night and weekly offline backup looks good.It also depends on the database size.
