CDMC and upgrade 4.7 ECC6

Former Member

Hi,

We are planning the upgrade of our SAP systems from 4.7 to ECC6.

We installed Solution Manager a few weeks ago and saw the CDMC functionnality, which looks really usefull.

In order to use the cockpit, it looks like we have to install the plugin in the 4.7 environment. At the moment , we have error CNV_CDMC_CA 094 (CDMC is not installed in the target RFC)

Before installing the module in our 4.7 system, could you please let me know if there is any future impact for the upgrade ?

If you have any feedback about installation time, it would be great too

Best Regards,

Julien

Hi,

follow the note 1244713 to install CDMC in your 4.7 Installing CDMC will not affect your upgrade.

Your R/3 should be a minimum of

SAP_BASIS 640 Support Package 11

SAP_ABA 640 Support Package 11

Also, you need to install Solution Plugin tools ST-PI in your R/3 Follow note 1228898 for this.

Perform upgrade in your Dev R/3 system without CDMC first. This will act as Reference System for your Upgrade Impact analysis.

Plesae note CDMC is part of ST-PI 2008_1 00 so the time would the installation time of your ST-PI plugin installation time.

Hope this helps.

Feel free to revert back.

hi Ragu,

Thanks for the reply !

"Perform upgrade in your Dev R/3 system without CDMC first. This will act as Reference System for your Upgrade Impact analysis."

First environment upgraded is our dev. Because of the context, the upgraded dev will be in an other server

server 1 dev 4.7 => server 2 dev ECC6 running in the same time.

We are already working server 2 implementation (system copy, db, os,..)

What I planned was:

-install CDMC in server 1=> reference system

-install CDMC in server 2 (if not included in ECC6 EHP4 install)=>analysis system

What do you think about it?

Do you have any personnal experience of time related with install of ST PI? Just to have an idea...

Thanks a lot for your help!

Yes this is ideal.

Installing ST-PI should not take more time you can install it in 2 hours max.

Feel free to revert back.

Thanks again,

Last question: If we install ST PI in our prod system (4.7) for statistics and analysis part, do you know if there will be any impacts for future upgrade?

Hi,

Here is a note 1228898 for net runtime for installing ST-PI its 20 Mins. as per note but still depends on processor and the current ST-PI in case you have.

There will not be negative impact on your R/3 (4.7) System. Infact, ST-PI is prerequisite for Executing SAP services.

Check this note 560630

Advantages:

New function modules are available for collecting data for service sessions. The new modules offer new analysis options in service sessions (for example, EarlyWatch Alert, Business Process Monitoring). In addition, the modules have improved performance.

The Service Definition Refresh via SDCC does not have to be deactivated.

The add-on is accessible via the Service Marketplace.

Errors during installation in the system will not occur because the prerequisites are checked when the add-on is imported.

Hope this helps.

Feel free to revert back.
