Hi gurus
We are looking at using the standard SAP RF transaction 'LM80' - 'Serial number capture'
Does anyone have any experience with this transaction? How does it work and what is the process flow?
Cheers
Eddy
Hi
Please advise if this is the process others are using for LM80:
1. Create STO or Sales Order
2. Create Delivery
3. Create Warehouse Transfer Order
4. Pick/Confirm Warehouse Transfer Order
5. Scan serial numbers to completely picked delivery via LM80
6. Post Goods Issue
My question is: is there a way to 'pick' via serial numbers? The process would then be that you scan in serial numbers during picking
kind regards
Ed

HI Ed,
It is possible to modify any of the LMOB picking transaction such as LM45 ..etc to capture a serial numbers during picking and update the delivery with the serial number but it will require some development effort.
We have done this a number of times for both WM and TRM supported picking processes. It is worth thinking carefully about how the picking screen are presented to the user and how the scanned serial numbers are incremented, and how user is informed of errors in the case of missed or serial numbers rescanned by mistake.
Thanks James
Thanks James
Yes, this appears to be the only way. I am quite surprised that LM80 works that way a 'standard' - it does not appear to serve any real function as you are attaching the serial numbers to the delivery after the fact of picking. There is also the tricky issue of if a material has mandatory serial number assignment - you won't even be able to use LM80 in this case as the serial will be assigned during picking .
Hopefully SAP will develop this transaction further
Cheers
Edd
