Once I finish data modeling within the console I would like to understand how it gets stored in the database (schema). Is it possible to check that?

At the database level its very hard to figure out. Please check shenoy reply in this thread:

If you figure out the MDM database then you can design your own software.
Post your scenario and someone might help.
For Users, Roles and few other things you can directly figure out with the name of the database tables.
