Career Management and Grading Systems in SAP

I'd like to learn about Career Management and Grading Systems in SAP. My company is currently in the process of implementing a dual career path (specialist vs. structural) for our IT organization, as one of the initiatives to improve engagement level of technical employees.

Hi Iwan,

I think what you are talking about is career and succession planning.

It is now part of SAP E-recruiting.Here employees(internal candidates)are ranked against a successive position.This process sometimes includes ranking based on questionnaires,which are supposed to be filled by employees.The employees are selected from a so called Talent pool.

Hi Bharat,

Thank you very much for your swift response. What I'd like to find out is actually how SAP manages their technical professionals. Do you have specialist skill track for them? If you do, what is their career progression like (from entry level to senior professional)? What are specialization area available?

If this is not the right forum to discuss above issue, appreciate if you could direct me to more appropriate resources.

Thanks for your reward.Well actually SAP itself implemented mySAP E-recruiting 6.0 and the succesion planning module does the task.

I am afraid I can't give exact information as to the technical positions, but what I see is it is a so called TALENT GROUP in e-recruiting.

An annual program identifies successors for management and executive positions. Like the high potential process, the career-development needs of our leaders are carefully planned and tracked.</b>
