We are BOXI 3.1, Oracle 10.2
Our Data Warehouse procedures require all construction take place in Development (WHDEV database), then be migrated to Production (WHPRD database). Schema and tables match, just different databases. How do we migrate the connections, universes and reports?
Hi Barry,
I guess you can use import Wizard to migrate the Uinverses connections and reports to XI 3.1.
Thanks

Hi Barry,
If you want to migrate Universes from Dev to Prod follow these steps
1. Use Import wizard and select all reports and Universes (as well as users if require) and do the migration (Hope you know the steps to migrate)
2. Login to Designer (Production ) and import the Universe and change the connection parameters and export it.
3. check your report. Those will run properly.

Thank you, Chirangv. I really appreciate getting the help. We are working on a new install. I am including our documented steps since there does seem to be a need for this answer.
All Universes are first built in the Development Environment
1. Open Universe Designer in DEV
2. Design and build universe on whdev-xxx (data server-schema) connections
3. Save, Export to DEV
4. Build Crystal Report on universe data, Save in appropriate folder on \CRWDEV
Migration Wizard
1. Remote Desktop to Destination Server, open Migration Wizard
2. Select Source (logon settings)
3. Select Destination (logon settings)
4. Settingsu2026(we migrate connections, universes u2013 access levels and users/groups are needed if settings have changed since last migration)
5. May select all or individual universes
Universe Connections
1. Open Universe Designer in PRD
2. Open desired universe (Import > Folder > select)
3. File > Parameters > Connections (dropdown) select appropriate production connection > Test > OK
4. Save, Export Universe
Publish Crystal Report
1. Open desired Crystal Report (from CRWDEV)
2. File > Save As > Enterprise > Select System (PRD), username, password
3. Select appropriate folder
4. Remove .rpt file extension
5. Save
