Unable to Load SRM MDM Catalog Repositories

Former Member

Hello,

We are in the process of implementing SRM MDM Catalog 3.0 along with SAP MDM Server 5.5 SP06 and SRM7.0. As per the SRM MDM Catalog guide, we have installed MDS, MDIS 5.5.64.107 version, when we try to install SRM MDM Catalog repository, we followed the guide steps as below

1. Open MDM Console

2. Mount your MDM Server: MDM Servers Mount MDM Server

3. Start the MDM Server, if it is not already running.

Select the relevant MDM Server and choose MDM Servers Start MDM Server

4. Unarchive the delivered SRM-MDM Catalog repository.

Select the relevant MDM Server and choose Repositories Unarchive..

Specify DBMS Server, including login and password.

Set the repository name, for example, SRM_MDM_Catalog.

Select the archive file, which is the name of the a2a file without extension.

5. Start the repository after the un-archving is successfully completed.

Select the repository and choose Repositories Load Update Indices

6. Set property Socket Read Timeout MS=0 in mds.ini for the repository.

We have done the step 4 Unarchive successfully after login to DBMS server with login password, but we are unable to Update Indices in Load from main menu of the Repositories because Update Indices option got hide also options are like update, verify, Duplicate Repositories, properties got hide. Current status of the Repository is outdated, it is in grey color.

The following version we are using for our MDM

SAP MDM SERVER mds.exe 5.5.64.107

SAP MDM IMPORT SERVER mdis.exe 5.5.64.107

SAP MDM LAYOUT SERVER mdls.exe 5.5.64.107

SAP MDM SYNDICATION SERVER mdss.exe 5.5.64.107

SAP MDM Console -

> 5.5.64.107

Archive Repository SRMMDMCAT30_SP00_1.a2a

OS - Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 2

DB - MSSQL 2008

Any help in this regd will be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!

Dear Mandeep,

Once again thanks for your reply. But would like to know few things..

1) After upgrading or installing to MDM 7.1, is it necessary for me to upgrade Netweaver 7.0 to 7.1? Because current version of our EP, BI, PI 7.0 & SAP MDM5.5 and we are going live very soon. SRM7.0 is our new requirement we will go live SRM in next cycle. Please do our needful

Thanks and Regards

Sudbang,

Firstly if you are using SRM MDM Catalog 3.0, you have to upgrade or install to MDM 7.1

Please refer below link if you have valid SAP User ID, you can login to this URL

https://websmp110.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_FRAME=CONTAINER&_OBJECT=012002523100012367862008E

On Page 17 of 34, 5.3 Updating the Repository It states that SRM-MDM Catalog 2.0 SP04 is based on SAP NetWeaver MDM 5.5 SP06 but SRM-MDM Catalog 3.0 is based on SAP NetWeaver MDM 7.1.

Check SAP NetWeaver MDM 7.1 Release Note given in below URL

https://websmp210.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700001887432008E

On Page 8 of 11, Interfaces and Integration --> MDM Business Content --> here it states that The MDM Business Content supports SAP NetWeaver 7.0 .

You can also check in SAP NetWeaver MDM 7.1 Master guide

https://websmp210.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700001668472008E

On page 9 of 31, SAP MDM 7.1 Overview-->, you will find MDM 7.1 supports SAP NetWeaver 7.0, SAP NetWeaver CE 7.1, and SAP NetWeaver PI 7.1. MDM 7.1 does not support SAP NetWeaver 2004.

Also, check the Version mapping of SRM MDM Catalog 3.0 with MDM 7.1 for compatibility.

Hope it will help you

Thanks,

Hi Sudbang.

What Version of MDM are you using ? You can check the version of your MDM by any of the GUI client say MDM Console-->Help-> About SAP MDM Console wherein you can see version and build like 7.1.0X.XX

As i said you need to check the version mapping of SRM MDM Catalog 3.0 with your MDM Server Version for compatibilty.

It seems that you are using SRM-MDM Catalog 3.0 SP02 Patch 03 by looking at your file version SRMMDMCAT30_SP02_03.a2a.

if it so, Please check SAP Note 1327279 which tells that SRM-MDM Catalog 3.0 SP02 Patch 03 is based on MDM 7.1.01.63

So, if you sre using different version of SRM MDM Catalog 3.0 other than SRM-MDM Catalog 3.0 SP02 Patch 03, you also need to check version mapping of SRM MDM Catalog 3.0 is based on which MDM 7.1 version.

For Installation and Configuration of SRM MDM Catalog 3.0 Please refer SAP Note 1177779

Hope it will help you,

Please close the thread if answered

Hi Sandeep,

SAP MDM version is 7.1.03.39 this includes (MDS, MDIS, MDSS and MDM Console ) OS is Windows 2003 SP2 with MSSQL 2008. Repository file SRMMDMCAT03_SP02_03.a2a

Our Problem is after Mounting MDM server in MDM Console, we try to create the repository ( Selected the MDM server host --> Right click --> Selected Create Repository option), we have given user name, password, Repository name and port. Once we click the finish button to create the repository we received the info that Data Base unable to modify. We checked from DB side and found available of DB A2i_xCat_DBs, also verified DBMS settings. We are sure that there is problem in DB side. Would like to know what are all the changes we need to do for DB usage type MSSQL 2008 for MDM7.1

Thanks and Regards

Hi,

Have you tried creating a new blank repository with a new name. Share the result.

If you are able to create a blank new repository and login with Admin user and blank password, then try to delete the old tables already created in Database related to your SRM repository by refering to this article - https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/6006cc15-fe41-2c10-9887-fa85d8f7...

Once you have deleted then again try to unarchive the SRM repository, then try loading it.

Rgds.

Dear All,

We found the reason for unable to modify the database. We re set the DATA path and LOG path in DBMS settings,

For DATA PATH = E:\usr\sap\MDX\MDS01\mdm\archives

For LOG PATH = E:\usr\sap\MDX\MDS01\log

after these changes we connected DB with sa user and successfully created respository also unarchive. Thanks for your cooperation and your vaild suggessions.

Thanks and Regards

Hi,

If you are getting Current status of the Repository is outdated, it is in grey color. Then right Click on the repository Update Repository which will update the schema changes from outdated to current version. once it done, you can load your repository with Update Indices.

Thanks,

Sudbang,

It seems that you are using higher Verion of Archive than MDM Server Version. As you know that it is not possible to downgrade MDM version archives to lower version. I think SRM-MDM catalog 3.0 is compatible with MDM 7.1not with MDM 5.5.

Please check for this. By looking at your version it seems that you are using MDM 5.5 SP6 Patch 4 which may be not a version mapping with your SRM MDM Catalog 3.0. Please refer SAP Note 1177779 SRM MDM Catalog 3.0 Installation and Configuration.

I think you need to check version mapping for SRM MDM Catalog 3.0 with MDM Server Version. I hope either you need to Upgrade MDM Server Version to 7.1 or downgrade SRM MDM catalog to 2.0 with MDM 5.5 Version. Please check Version Mapping of SRM MDM catalog 2.0 to SAP MDM 5.5 in SAP Note 1083126.

Hope it will help you,

Thanks,
