Dear Experts,

Want to clarify the following:

Why the system allows you to delete Activities after Fully Releasing a Project?

What are the implications of deleting a released activity?

Why system does not allow you delete other Project Objects (Networks, WBS Elements etcu2026) which are in Released Status?

Thanks in Advance,

Dileepa.

Hi,

Replay to your quesries :

1. Why the system allows you to delete Activities after Fully Releasing a Project ?

System allows to delete any type of actvities if it is not not released. The actvities can also be deleted even if it is relased, but actual cost is not posted. Deletion can be allowed for those releasing activities only when you reverse the respective document. This feature should be available in the system otherwise you can not delete when you executing the project and want to delete any activity which is not required during detail planning.

2. What are the implications of deleting a released activity?

If a project is released, then it triggers creating reservations or requirement, purchase requistions, which is linked to other module. Then you can directly delete the actvitiies in the project system. If P.O is created in the system, then you have to delete or block the P.o in order to delete the activity. Sometimes goods alreaday received but you don't need, then you have to reverse the document to delete the activity.

3. Why system does not allow you delete other Project Objects (Networks, WBS Elements etcu2026) which are in Released Status?

You can delete WBS element even if it released but network can not. But actula cost is posted already, you can not delete that WBS element. If you delete a network (if it is not released), system create can not create with the same number, but it is not the same with WBS element.

In addition to Sai, System allows you to delete WBS Element of REL status if there is not actual cost on it. But system store each REL status WBS in Release Version table. While deleting system will not delete in version table. So, if you create the same WBS no. once again , system will give you error message REL version of this WBS exist.

If it is not advised to delete WBS of REL status. eventhough system will allow you .

Regarding network there may be similar type of logic, If any once knows please share.

Hi,

For account assignment for subsequent documents like P.R , P.O , P.M Order , Prod Order either WBSE or NEtwork header is used. After release , hence deletion of the same is not allowed.

As long as activities are concerned they are allowed to be deleted until any subsequent documents or data gets posted.

I mean till reservations are created or costs are posted. Try deleting an activity to which is released and a material is assigned, system will not allow.

Also WBSE and Network are primary Keys at Table level. Not the activity (VORNR).

You can change this setting in OPSG T-code and block deleting activity which released.

Above explanation may not be convincing but hope will be of some help.

Thanks

Activities are not deleted, just delete flag is set. Goto Edit > Object > Display delted > on.

'Cos actual values might have been posted (eg. costs, confirmations etc...) so system doesnt allows deleting these activities.
