Dear All,

when i am executing Verify backup through DB13 i am getting errors same i am copying here Job logs

hi Farhan,

in my init<SID>.sap following values are enabled but i am not taking backup to Tapes, i am taking into dailybkpecq folder

tape_address = /dailybkpeccq

#tape_address = /dev/rmt0.1

tape_address_rew = /dailybkpeccq

#tape_address_rew = /dev/rmt0

as per my scenario how could be tape_address and tape_address_rew enabled

tape address is set to /dailybkpecq folder and archive function is set to save.

bebgfheg.log this log was not generated in /sapbackup folder.

Please could you please help me regarding verify database, whenever i am scheduling verify database from DB13, i am facing following errors. At what scenario we can schedule this option.

Hello Chandra,

I think that the error is very clear. I hope you have read it. Here is again:

You are trying to do an OFFLINE verification. That is not possible from DB13. BRBACKUP tries to shutdown the database, but he will not do it because SAP is connected to the database.

You have 2 options, one is given by the error message:

> use the 'offline_force' option

instead of OFFLINE you use OFFLINE_FORCE, in that case BRBACKUP will stop oracle regardless of who is connected.

BUT, I wonder WHY you want to do an OFFLINE verification. Instead you can do an ONLINE verification. You do not have to shutdown oracle, keeping intact the oracle buffers and SAP remains online, batch jobs can be executed without problems, etc

If you take a look at the bold lines, they are very clear. And the red ones give you EXACTLY what you have to take a look at and change.<br>

But it looks like you do not do it. You wrote:<br>

The error is telling you that you have the same tape device for tape_address and tape_address_rew <br>

It looks like you want to do a backup to disk. In that case what you CANNOT do is to change the tape_address to a directory and try the same<br>

you have to<br>

- change the device to disk as indicated on the [documentation|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/0d/d30ba74a0c11d182b80000e829fbfe/content.htm].<br>

- do not change the tape* parameters. Those parameters are ONLY for tapes, as their own name suggest.<br>

- indicate the directory where you want to backup with the parameter backup_root_dir, as specified in the [documentation|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/0d/d309594a0c11d182b80000e829fbfe/content.htm]<br>

after modifying my tape_address, tape_address_rew as defualt, i am getting below errors in action log-db13

Could you please tell me that, i wouldnt execute database verify while Database is running?

What about reading the documentation (as I strongly suggested before)?

What about using the nice search box on the top right? I used i and The fist SAP Note applies 100% to your issue.

What about reading the error and think a little about it You should be able to find out the solution all by yourself.

But, as I think doíng any of the previous is tooooooo difficult for you, a least I hope you can read the SAP Note 17163 "BRARCHIVE/BRBACKUP messages and codes" that includes the one you have

In addition, basically about thinking about it, why do YOU want to shutdown the database to do the verification. Wouldn't be easier/better to do it while the database and SAP are up and running?
