Is it possible for non-SAP MDM to supply SRM with Vendor Master Data?

We are implementing SRM 7.0 in a stand alone scenario, but want to use a non-SAP MDM solution to supply vendor master data via interface. The MDM application sends vendor data in XML format. One thought was to possibly use SAP function module BAPI_BUPA_CREATE_FROM_DATA.

Has anyone handled a similar situation?

Yes. It is possible.

You can use the standard XML interface for Business Partner in the name space http://sap.com/XI/ABA.
