CPC - Spool file issue

Former Member

Hi

We just completed a CPC on the production system. All is good except some spool files are unreadable.

We ran the DB4_CVT_EBCDIC_LISTS program but even when we specify an individual user we get hit by the SYSTEM_IMODE_TOO_LARGE error and the program dumps.

Do we have to individually convert each spool file or is there a better way? I checked not 600755 but could not find the answer.

Thanks

Matt

Thanks Volker

We had tested the CPC in the clients SND, DEV & QAS systems before the CPC and not had this error. When we run the DB4_CVT_EBCIDIC_LISTS program on individual spools they still look like garbage.

Is there any way to retrieve the spool files that DB4_CVT_EBCIDIC_LISTS will not convert?

Thanks

Matt

Hi Matt,

good that you tested - then it is "just bad luck" ;-(

I do not know any way to vonvert properply, when it fails on a single basis ...

If it is SAPscript, this is "working as designed" - but then you should be able to print more or less properly.

For ALI, it should work, but sometimes it doesn't ...

Hi

Looks like the problem is fixed. When we run DB4_CVT_EBCDIC_LISTS the NEW spool file is garbage but the OLD spool file is fixed!

Thanks

Hi Matt,

ok, if this is the case, you misunderstood the program - it always works like this ... but still: sometimes, it seems to fail ...

Interestingly enough when we run DB4_CVT_EBCDIC_LISTS on some individual spool files the result is still unreadable. Maybe they were generated via sapscript.

Hi Matt,

that is exactly, why you should test the CPC first and I always tell my customers, that I cannot garantue for the spoolfiles => all you need, you convert to PDF BEFORE the CPC ...
