After sucessfull Installation . When I start my server . my disp+work not working . But when I restart Oracle via SQL Prompt.
i.e First SQL>shutdown immediate
then SQL>startup.
then again SAP Instance start.
then my SAP proper work.
what the reason I have to start Oracle restart.

Hi Sunil,
All above posts are correct and will help to solve your problem. It seems the SAP not installed properly. One friend of mine faced the same problem. I advised him to check the Java Setting (Environment variables), login through SIDADM user.
Have you changed the TCP/IP address for your machine. Check the Oracle services also.
Thanks
Lokendra

Oracle 8.x does not run properly on Windows 2003. This is documented in Oracle Metalink 161546.1. It was not supported and it won't be since it's out of maintenance for a long time already. There is no possiblity to "solve" the problem; it's like putting normal fuel in a diesel car, you may be able to get it inside but the car won't drive for long.

> I have fresh Installed IDES 4.7 with Oracle 8 on Windows 2003.
Oracle 8 is ancient software and is not supported under Windows 2003. No matter how hard you try you will run into problems since it's unsupported (technically the database won't run on Windows 2003 correctly).
Why not download an actual version from the service marketplace with supported software? Or is this yet another "home installation"?

I
have fresh Installed IDES 4.7 with Oracle 8 on Windows 2003. After sucessfull Installation
Check the above combination is supported at [service.sap.com/pam]
Also make sure you have set the environments variables correctly, listner is up etc. Also check the user status as mentioned in the earlier post.
