ABAP HA Installation - Central Instance Query

Hello Everyone,

I am doing Installation of Nw 7.0 SR3 ABAP HA Installation on HP_UX.

I did installation of ASCS, DB with Virtual hostname on node A. ( ./sapinst SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=dbciSID)

Now I want to install Central Instance on Node A. and Additional Dialog instance on Node B.

My Question is :

case 1 : Do i need to use Virtual Hostname ( SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME ) for Central instance installation on node A ?

or

case 2 : i can start installation without Virtual Hostname . ( only ./sapinst )

What will be the scenario when Node A is down in case 1 and case 2 ?

HI,

as far as i have done all the ASCS DB and CI will go with the same Virtual host and then the DI that you are going to do in Node B will have the different Virtual name and it should have the entry in the /etc/hosts of both A and B Node.

Yes you will go wiht the virtual host name installation of CI.

So now i need to install SOLMAN key for Virtual host name instaead of primary server hostname.

Am i right?

Yes you need to ude the virtual host name while taking the Key.
