Hi,

I want to Back up ECC 6.0 on Win 2003 (DB: MS SQL 2005).

I was reading through SAP Help:

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi711/helpdata/en/85/cd5e76d4b54a0d9463049e0f56f11e/content.htm

But still not very confident,

Can you'll please share some docs/steps/experience to perform this task.

Thanks,

CD

Thanks for considering my question.

Should I only back up the usr/sap folder or is there anything else also I need to back up.

And what should be the sequence.

I was referring this article:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;326216

Is performing the steps under topic "To Back Up Selected Files or Folders"

sufficient and select usr/sap dir while performing it.

Thanks once again,

CD

If you read the given page you will see there:

Windows Server 2003

1.
Back up the operating system disk.
   2.
Back up the directory structures on non-operating system
      disks (excluding database data files)
   3.
Back up the database data files.

So point 2 is \usr\sap.

You need to backup the OS itself (including the filesystem permissions and registry) and you need, of course, need to backup the database (content).

Go it thanks for explaining it.

I have one more doubt,

In the help.sap link it refers to complete system back-ups? Does that mean combination of all above 3 steps?

Thanks,

Yes - exactly.

If the server breaks (for whatever reason) completely, then you're able to rebuild it if you took all those backups (and only then).
