Hello all
I want to know what is the testing strategy that you or your company follows for SOA based applications
I am specifically looking at
1. any differences in the test process when compared to traditional applications?
2. What specific testing tools are used?for example, HP QTP, eCATT in SAP Solution Manager
Looking forward to hear from you all
Thanks and Regards

Hi,
SOA based project mostly follow 2 approach (not different from any other project):
- Unit testing for individual service (technical/functional).
- Blackbox testing for entire application.
Other tesing can include:
- Load/Stress testing.
Till now HP QTC is widely used but planning to explore eCATT as well.
Testing in SOA mostly revolve around integration and functional blackbox testing as individual service often tested and reliable.

Hi Gaurav
Thank you for your comments.
Can you please expand on the usage of HP QTP. (is this what you meant by QTC? or you meant quality center)
Do you use it to test the composites/applications or the web services as well?
there is a way to test Web Services with eCATT. Is that what you are exploring or even application testing too?
Thanks and Regards
Rajeev
Hi,
Sorry for typo...
I meant HP QC. testing individual webservice is not a problem and can be done by WSNavigator or SOAP UI or any other tool available.
We are more converned with overall testing when we use tools like HP QC,
eCATT was also used but manily for SAP specific testing and I am not how it will work with SOA based project and thats what we are exploring.

Gourav
