Sure. You can likely install an ABAP Application Server on your home system as long as it meets the minimum hardware requirements. I would recommend downloading the trial version of the software from SDN. The trial installer is specially designed to work on Windows XP and Vista.

If you have minimal hardware available, I might actually recommend this trial download instead:

It is still 7.01, but an older support package level. However the main difference with this second trial is that it is non-unicode and requires less system resources to run.
