Change configuration schema (CDP to VC)

Hi everybody.

Could anyone help me with a question?

We are using the SCM 7.0 and we need to change the configuration schema from CDP to VC, but we already have products (that has a class to CDP and sales orders) and the system does not allows us to make the change. The system says that "The settings cannot be changed" and say to execute a procedure using the transaction /SAPAPO/CONFR_CFGREL. We run to all products but it didn't work.

How can we change from CDP to VC.

Thanks in advance

Thiago Cyrillo

Hi Gurus

Can you please help clarify some doubts in my mind

1.which scenario calls for VC and which scenario calls for CDP config setting?

2. What is the difference in data model between the two?

3. Do I require CBF in DP for enabling any of this in PPDS?

Thanks

Hi Ranga,

Pls find the answers for your questions :

1.which scenario calls for VC and which scenario calls for CDP config setting?

Most of the automotive scenarios use VC configuration and CDP are used by all Mill products.

2. What is the difference in data model between the two?

Characteristics-Dependent Planning (CDP): The products must be configurable in the R/3 system. In SAP APO, the characteristics are used for planning. In CDP, the CDP-specific class 400 is used in SAP APO. The class type is created in SAP APO when the class types 300 or 023 are transferred from the ERP system, or you can directly create it in SAP APO.

Variant Configuration (VC) : The products originate from a connected ERP system, and are assigned to a class with class type 300. The products are manufactured using make-to-order production. When using the setting VC, planning for configurable materials in SAP APO corresponds to the process in the ERP system

3. Do I require CBF in DP for enabling any of this in PPDS?

Yes, you need to enable CBF in DP to get those charactersitics in PPDS too along with creating of consumption group.

Hope it suffices.

Hi Thiago Cyrillo,

As standard SAP recommended practice, you may have to remove all old

data with CDP before switching over to VC orelse it will leads to loss of

data or inconsistency in system.

But still if you want to perform this action, try deactivating integration model

for classes and characteristics and try changing the configuration

Confirm your findings
