SMD Agent and Wily IS Java Agent

Hello,

I have installed through guided procedure SOLMAN_SETUP the SMD in Solution Manager.

I have question related 2 agents :

1. When you register the SMD Agent, you have to define the SLD information.

When registered, do you see the SMD Agent in SLD as technical system ?

2. When you start the Wily WebWiew, which agent do you see ?

The Wily IS Java agent only or both Agent (Wily IS Java Agent and SMD Agent) ?

Thanks for your answer. A colleague has installed SMD and Wily IS Agent and from Wily WebView,

2 agents are displayed :

1. SAP HostAgent <SID> (SID = SMD SID)

- EM Host

- Java Version

- Launch Time

- Agent Stats

- SID (ABAP)

- Host

- SAP GC

- SAP OsCol

- Selfmonitoring

....

2. SAP Netweaver

ABAP_SID_DVEMBGSXX_server0

- EM Host

- Java Version

- Launch Time

- Virtual Machine

- Agents Stats

- Backends

- Frontends

- GC Heap

- Heuristiscs

- Host

- JMX

- SAP_CRM

- SAP J2EE

- SAP XI

- Servlets

- Struts

- WebServices

I have installed SMD Agent in XDS managed system and also the Wily IS Agent in XDS.

When I start the Wily WebView, I only see the the "SAP HostAgent <SID>.

I do not have any SAP Netweaver Agent information ...

Hello,

Just to clarify your 2nd query (Aditya is correct for his answer on 1st query). You can see both IS Agent & SMD Agent .

IS Agent (Wily agent) will be deployed only on Sol Man system and by running managed system wizard, all other satellite system will get these agents. So once you run the Managed system wizard, you can see for AS java systems only, these agents gets registered through Byte Code agent and it also add 3 new properties in your config tool.

As ealrier mentioned SMD agent can be viewed from Solman_workcenter> Root cause analysis> Agent Administration.

Thanks for your feedback.

There is a missunderstanding regarding the Wily IS Agent installation.

To summarize, I have first deployed it manually on XDS using SDM (Software Deployment Management) and then configured it using SMD (Solution Manager Diagnostics) following SOLMAN_SETUP guided procedure.

Let's summarize what I exactly did following SOLMAN_SETUP guided procedure.

XDS = managed system

SMC = solution manager system = diagnostic server

1. Phase I and Phase II (Init and Basic Configuration.

There were no major issues. Configured successfully.

2. Phase III - Managed System Configuration

2.1. I have installed SMD Agent in XDS using SAPINST.

2.2. As mentionned in OSS Note 797147 and in

"CA Wily Introscope Version 8 - Installation Guide for SAP", in page 18, I have deployed

the Wily IS Java agent manually.

Page 18 of the above Guide :

1. Enable Maintenance Mode on SMD

2. Deploy ISAGENTSMD80_xx.SCA using SDM (Software Deployment Management)

3. Disable Mainteance on SMD

4. Launch the Instroscope Setup application ...

Diagnostics Setup ==> Managed Systems ==> Introscope agent.

Wily IS Agent deployed in XDS managed system :

(IS Agent 8.1 SP0 (8.1.0.0.20090605095817))

2.3. Then, I have continued to follow the SOLMAN_SETUP guided procedure ...

I have configured the SMD Agent to SMD

(Manual Conf. - Install + Assign Diagnostics Agent)

2.4. I have then assigned the Wily IS Agent to the Wily IEM (Introscope Manager),

in "Wily Introscope Configuration" step of "Managed System configuration.

Result :

1. I can see my SMD agent from Agent Administration from SMD.

2. I can start and stop SMD agent from Agent Administration from SMD.

3. I can assigned the Wily IS Agent to IEM.

4. I can start Wily WebView.

5. I can not see the Wily Is Agent from this WebView.

**Question :

What do you recommand ?

Should I undeployed or des-install the Wily IS Agent from SDM (Software Deployment Management) and use only the SMD (Diagnostics application) to deploy it on XDS managed system ?

Just to add and clarify myself too

1. we will see the 'managed system SID' in the technical systems, not the SMD instance SID

2. Even, i have doubt here, If Aditya can confirm what he said. Even I was in search for this info

I still only have the SMD Agent displayed from my Wily Introscope WebView tool.

SMC = Solution Manager

XDS = managed system

I have deployed it from SMD (Diagnostics).

When I start the Wily Introscope WebView, I can see the SMD Agent installed on XDS :

xdsci

- SAP HostAgent Porcess

SAP HostAgent J98 (SuperDomain)

EM Host

Java Version

...

I still do not have any information related to :

SAP Netweaver

XDS_DVEBMGS00_server0 (*SuperDomain)

EM Host

...

Any idea why ?

I am having similar issue I only see SAP Host Agent process, I don't see SAP Netweaver.
