Hi All,
What is the difference between the various client copy profiles-sap_all,
sap_user,customizing and other ones. What gets transported in each case?
What is transaction FILE used for? is a variant used for each system for FILE
and where is the variant set?
What does the table TADIR contain? What is the significance of it?
Thanks a lot.
Cyrus
Hi Cyrus:
1) When copying clients, you can select what you want to transfer from the source client to the target client:
User masters: You select this option, for example, if you want to give all users of an existing client the same authorizations in the target client.
Client-specific Customizing: You select this option, for example, if you want to set up a new client in an existing system.
Client-specific Customizing and master/transaction data: You select this option, for example, if you want to set up a test client that is identical to the production client (in the same system).
Client-specific and cross-client Customizing: You select this option, for example, if you want to set up a quality assurance system based on the production client of another system.
Client-specific and cross-client Customizing and master/transaction data: You select this option, for example, if you want to set up a test client based on the production client of another system.
2) Transaction FILE is used to handle all Physical and Logical file and path definition whiting the SAP application.
3) TADIR is the main Object Directory Entry table, all SAP objects have an associated entry in this table.
Help this helps!
Regards,
Federico
