Upgrade of NW04 SP16 to NW04S SP07 prepare error

Hello everyone,

I have a problem with the upgrade of my NW04 SP16 to NW04S SP07.

I have successfully upgraded Oracle 9 to Oracle 10.1.4 hotfix 8 on the NW04 SP16 portal. The NW04 SP16 portal have some km content (KM at SP16).

I have done all preparation, and I am stuck at the Bind package step.

The prepare ask me to update two components, and I don't find them in marketplace.

The components are :

com.sap.netweaver.coll.appl.base.support.cfg

SAP KM BS Database Content

I have downloaded all the NW04S SP07, and they are not in it.

Does someone know where I can find the NW04S updates of those two components?

Thank you very much.

Thanks for the high-level overview. Perhaps you should check if this will work with SP06. I would have tried the upgrade with SP06 myself. SP07 is quite recent. Otherwise, you can open up an OSS message under component

EP-SYS-UPG.

James

Unix/Oracle?

Can you briefly provide process of upgrade steps/procedure used (high-level)?

Did you use the migration tool?

Hi James,

it is a Windows/Oracle portal.

I used the migration tools for the km content (from EP6 SP2 to NW04 SP16).

For the upgrade I used two guides. The one for Oracle 10 upgrade and the one for NW04 to NW04S.

Upgrade of Oracle 9 to 10 was simple :

Installed an Oracle 10 in new oracle home.

Patched to 10.1.0.4, installed hotfix 8.

I used upgrade wizard then deleted old oracle 9.

Did portal jdbc configuration, and portal was up and running.

For the upgrade of the NW04 portal :

Downloaded NW04S SP07 and copied it in the transport directory.

Cleaned up universal worklist cache.

Prepared the ADS deployment.

Created the upgrade directory.

Closed MMC GUI.

Started prepare and got stuck at Bind Packages, because it ask me for two components packages that are not in SP07.

Brad,

When you post your log to sap, attach the KMCMigrationTool.log

I have already gave a try with sp06, it gave the same results. Going from NW04 SP16 to NW04S SP06 is a downgrade path...

OSS message open. Thank you for the help.

Brad,

No problem. Which I could have helped more. I am quite surprised that you had the same results for SP06. Keep me posted on the OSS status.

Hi,

SAP told me to keep the two components and proceed with upgrade. This behaviour is normal.

However, got another problem in step 61 : deploy online of the upgrade tool.

It hangs and don't go further.

Saw a lot of errors in the logs like :

May 23, 2006 12:10:31... Warning: Finished with warnings: development component 'com.sap.rprof.remoteProfile'/'sap.com'/'SAP AG'/'7.0004.20050713132857.0000':

I have notified SAP in the oss message and I am looking myself for a solution.

Hi,

SAP found the solution.

You need to update the JDBC driver of oracle to 10.2 or newer.

I was able to finish the upgrade after this.

You can found an updated JDBC driver in the Oracle client 10.2.

Just replace classes12.jar and ojdbc14.jar.
