Add on component phases(SAINT)

Hi all,

Why do we need to select the support packages phase while adding the add component(SAINT)?

What does this phase mean "modification adjustment transports to the installation queue"?( is it transporting the add component to QA and PRD or we need to do manually)

I refered help.sap on add on component, I need oral(general explanation on these phases)

I understood the steps for Add on components using SAINT

Phase1 : you need to upload the files from OS to sap level

Phase 2: select the start

Phase 3 : Select the add on componernt -> continue

phase4: we need choose support packages for the add on component ?(explanation needed)

Phase 5: calculated queue

phase6: modification adjustment transports to the installation queue (need explanation needed)

This step is some time optional some time mendatory.

Optional when you have then you have Addon component at some level and the New Support pack you are applying is higher than the support pack you have present in your system.

mandatory when you have a support pack level is higher and has more content than the New version Addon that you are applying need to have patches also included with the Base addin.

like you are at Sap APPL 600 13 and you want to goto SAPAPPL602.So if you apply SAP APPL602 it shall give you then message thet Please include the Patch level 3 else data will be lost.

In this Plase we can choose the Patch level till which we want to apply the patch and we will not have to do it through SPAM after upgrading the Addon component.

When you apply a support Pack the data is beeing updated in the Data base.So while applying the Support pack Data files and Cofiles are creatred and then tp and r3 trans try to update the content in the data base.If you have applied a support pack you shall find some transport created in the import history of that perticular syse.

do the modification adjustment in spdd/spau
