Brining ESS functionality to portal

Hi

my custmer is having workplace2.1.1 with R/3 4.6D kernel.curretnly they are getting ESS functionality through workplace using ITS.now i need to get these functionality from workplace to portal.should i need to do whole configuration again or how to start this appraoch?

You won't need the Workplace server anymore for the ESS services. It also now depends on the backend you are using (which you did not mention). If it is some system on WAS6.40 or higher, you can use the internal ITS. If not, then you will still need an ITS server connected to the backend. The Portal will be configured to talk to the backend system through the ITS server.
