Hi,
I am trying to connect to our PI server via a client, and I am having difficulty with the trans code: sxmb_ifr.
When I access that, the host name does not locate the IP address. If i manually type in the IP address into the browser, I am able to access the PI page. Going forward from there, I cannot access ESB or any of the links, as it is still looking for the host name in the address.
I have updated my host file with the IP address and host name, but it still does not connect. Is there something else that I am missing to get the host name to link to the IP address?
Thanks in advance
I hope you have given the entire name that gets displayed in the browser (before the port number) in the host file entry.
Sometimes we have two entries for the hostname....with one you open the PI home page and with the other the ESR, ID gets opened.
IP Address HostName
Also log-off and then relogin to your system and then check.
Regards,
Abhishek.

Hi Daniel ,
Activities from basis team seems to be missing -
PI 7.0 post-installation is changed. The exchange_profile file is not required to load into PI. You can check this path.
http://help.sap.com/nw2004s/ -> SAP NetWeaver Library -> Technology Consultant's Guide -> Business Process Management -> Configuration of Usage Type Process Integration (PI) -> Template-Based Basic Configuration
or
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/a0/40084136b5f423e10000000a155106/content.htm
Expect it will help you.

Thanks for all your responses. I appreciate the help...
Here is the status of my situation.
1. I have checked my host file; it is correct. It has the correct full host name ( I have also added a second line, with another hostname, so now I have 2 as suggested)
2. I have not checked with basis yet on the host name check (I will do that once I am sure that it is not a client side error)
3. My exchange profile is correct as I can connect perfectly from my normal offices, but here at the client, it will not connect unless the IP address is within the URL of the browser.
By means of example, when my url is: http://<hostname>:<port>/dir/start/index.jsp it does not go to my PI homepage. But when I type manualyl into the address: http://<IP ADDRESS>:50500/dir/start/index.jsp, it works perfectly and I connect to the home page. From there, when I click on anything, the address naturally goes back to the host name, and then java throws an error as it does not know what IP address that host name is linked to.

Hi Daniel,
As i mentioned earlier issue is with the host name !!! Which is not getting reflected at all places...
You need to make an entry at RZ10 also in abap stack :
Please follow following steps..!!!
1.Go to exchange profile
http://<IP>:<Port>/exchangeProfile/index.html
Then RuntimeWorkbench -> com.sap.aii.rwb.server.centralmonitoring.r3.ashost = "maintain your FQDN"
->com.sap.aii.rwb.server.centralmonitoring..httpport = 8000
2. Reinitialize the RWB service by : http://xiserver:50000/rwb/rtc?op=init
3. RZ10 - Make an entry for /icm/host_name_full
Regards,
Thanks for the guidelines Santosh,
I have done all of that and made sure it is all correct, and rebooted, yet I still cannot get it to work. I think I may need to contact basis on this one, as everything on the client side seems to be perfect, so I can only assume that it is something beyond my expertiese.
Thanks again for you help, I appreciate the time!
KR,
Dan

Try this :
1. Ping from your local client to XI server (using Host name)
2. Ask basis person to use FQDN (Fully qualified domain name)....issue is there
