SAP BC listener problem

Former Member

Dear Friends,

We are facing one problem in SAP BC.

Some times Eventhough listener icon is green, it is becoming inactive without any change from SAP side aswellas SAPBC. Because of this we are getting an error communication failure when user try for a transaction.

If we stop and start the listener it is working fine.

Why this problem occurs?

Is there any remedy for this problem i.e. Is there any way to do the above activity autyomatically?

Is there any way to prevent the above situation?

Thanks and Regards,

Chandra

Okay. So do you face any entry in the error log in BC or have an entry in the audit log you could post here?

Thanks,

You may check this parameter:

==> Check time (minutes)

Time interval (minutes) between checks of the listener. It is checked whether the RFC Connection is still valid. If the backendu2019s RFC Gateway is running, any inactive RFC Listener.

Also check this the SAP BC - Adpater Guide / chapter "Configuring an RFC Listener in SAP Business Connector Server".

Additionally you may enable RFC trace to find any errors in this connection:

==> RFC Trace

Whether you want RFC tracing enabled or disabled. For a productive system, select Off. When you select ON, SAP Business Connector Server collects tracing in .trc files in directory <installation path>\Server\. The names of the .trc files all begin with rfc

Hi kai,

No entry in the audit log and error log.

The above problem is very rare(happened first time in six months).

It is not advisable to keep on the trace always since we don't know when the above problem will repeat again.

In this case I would suggest to check the connected SAP system whether it was shutdown or was temp. unavailable and therefore caused this issue.

Additionally you should set the parameter "Check time (minutes)" accordingly ==> Time interval (minutes) between checks of the listener. It is checked whether the RFC Connection is still valid. If the backendu2019s RFC Gateway is running, any inactive RFC Listener.

Chandra,

Also make sure the Autostart option is set to Yes so that it restarts automatically. Also please check some settings on page34 of the SAP Business connector adapter guide.
