Hi dear all

we plan to upgrade our hardware as well as software.still we are at 46c with non unicode system.

so for this purpose we have to choose the one of the procedure of unicode or non unicode,

as non unicode is less resource demanding so we would like to choose this option.

To do so what will be the demarits of the non unicode system instead of having unicode system.

please guide,

Zahid

Also be aware of the following facts:

- successor version of ERP are Unicode only, so you will need to do the migration neverless at one point

- it's unsupported to use Java components (Enterprise Portal etc.) against a non-Unicode backend system. If you choose to not convert your system now, you won't be able to run a Portal, even if installed on a separate machine

- if you install any other systems (CRM, SRM, BW) those systems are available as Unicode installations only, data transferred between the systems may get corrupted if it has not your codepage

So I highly suggest going for Unicode, even if it needs more resources (RAM is cheap those days) and even if it's more work.

If you have only one codpage on your source system you can also do the UC migration later.

in Non-Unicode system, Multi languages are not support, from ECC6.0 onwords you will have the unicode.

If you want upgrade from 4.6 to ECC6. You can do first non-unicode conversion to unicode based on your choosed System copy, or you can convert unicode while upgrading to ecc6 too.
